Re-opening Protocols for Short-term rentals

Welcome to Crystal Conference Center! It is with great joy we welcome you to this wonderful conference facility. With the continuing pandemic we have a few requirements to ensure the safety of all. Thank you for your cooperation.  

A health screening questionnaire will be required of our guests and staff upon arrival. The Site Director will collect from the group leader & explain protocols upon arrival. If you feel ill, please stay home. 

Please bring your own linens, bedding and recreational equipment.  Guidelines: 

  • Physical Distancing
    Physical distancing practices will be in place in compliance with local and state health and safety guidance. This includes face masks whenin close proximity to others or maintaining 6-feet distance when appropriate. Family groups from the same home do not need to adhere to this guidance when sharing a space. 
  • Group Size
    Group sizes may be limited to reduce exposure.  
  • Masks
    Guests should provide their own masks. A limited number of masks will be for sale on-site. 
  • Meal Service
    No meal service will be provided at Crystal this summer. All groups will be responsible for their own meal service. You may wish to bring your own cooler for perishable foods. 
  • Sanitization
    Buildings will be sanitized by our staff prior to your groups’ arrival. Sanitizing and cleaning during your stay is the responsibility of the guest. We ask that you frequently wash hands and use hand sanitizer when in the common areas. We will be adding sanitization stations. 
  • Recreation 
    Please provide your own balls and frisbees. Volleyball net will be provided. The ropes courses will be closed until further notice. Beach use is available without a lifeguard by signing a waiver form which you can get from our Site Director.  
  • Upon Checkout
    We will provide cleaning supplies and a check list of procedures to help us get a jump on cleaning and sanitizing your rental area for the next guest.

Common Rules:

  • Crystal Conference Center buildings are non-smoking.
  • Some restrictions apply to beach and swimming area.
  • Pets are not allowed in buildings, with exception of service dogs.
  • No firearms, fireworks, alcohol, or non-prescription drugs are allowed on the property.

Pioneer Cottage

Pioneer Cottage, reserved for Michigan Disciples clergy families as a respite and retreat location, is the oldest building on site and was recently renovated. It sits on the bluff overlooking Crystal Lake, with a loft-like layout with a queen bed, kitchenette, sitting area, bathroom with shower, and bunk room that sleeps four.

Weekly use is Sunday through Saturday, with a maximum stay of six nights in a row. See Rates Sheet attachment below. All reservations for Pioneer Cottage are handled by UCCR Reservations – see contact information above.

Mission House

Mission House is fully accessible on the ground level with bedroom and bathroom on main level.  An additional four bedrooms and a bathroom are located on the second level. Mission House can comfortably sleep up to 13 people. Amenities include a full kitchen, linens (bedding and towels), living area with TV/DVD, deck with lake view, and access to the tennis court. Lakeside water sports are available with responsible adult present, however, there is no lifeguard service. All facilities are non-smoking and pets are not allowed in the buildings. WiFi access available.

Cedar Lodge

Cedar Lodge comfortably sleeps a total of 4-8 people, with four large bedrooms and two bathrooms. Common area includes a TV with DVD player and kitchenette with small appliances. The downstairs basement-like area is available for storing athletic equipment, including bikes. No WiFi access in the building.

The Oaks

The Oaks has three bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, sleeping a total of 7-10 people. There are two common living areas and refrigerators in select rooms. You may reserve one or more rooms. No WiFi access in the building.

Dorms

The Beeches has four rooms that sleep up to 10 in bunk beds, with a bathroom in each. One unit has a small kitchenette and limited pans/dishes.

The Birches has five rooms that sleep 6-8 in bunk beds, with a bathroom in each.

The Pines has five rooms that sleep 6-8 in bunk beds, with a bathroom in each.

Groups

Conferences, Retreats, Weddings, Family Reunions

Crystal welcomes weddings, families, church groups and others, with arrangements possible to include meals and multiple buildings and facilities use. The  “2020 Schedule & Rates” document provides details and costs involved. Special arrangements can be made to reserve the camp for large events.
